Andy Murray goes behind the scenes at Cheltenham

Andy Murray took time out of his rehabilitation to enjoy a day out at Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday. The 31-year-old took a bit of time out from his day with wife Kim to catch up with a couple of legends of the track in the form of Ruby Walsh and AP McCoy. The trio could be seen sharing a joke in pictures posted on the racecourse’s official account. The Scot also sat down with jockey Harry Cobden, and stood chatting to Rachael Blackmore in the wieghing room. Whatever tips he was given in those chats, they appeared to come off, as his mum, Judy, posted a picture of Murray celebrating in the grand stand. Murray is recovering from his most recent bout of surgery on a hip injury that looks set to end his career prematurely. He announced at the US Open that he is aiming for this year’s Wimbledon to be his final appearance on the court. Speaking recently about his recovery, the two-time Wimbledon champion said: ‘I would hate to go on the court at Wimbledon and for something bad to happen. Or to feel really bad and apprehensive and for it to go really badly.’I wouldn’t want that to happen. I just wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that, going straight into a Slam without having any preparation or seeing how it feels. It’s possible (that he will be at Wimbledon). This is a big surgery and operation I’ve had. ‘The main reason for having the operation was to not be in pain any more, and I’m not. I’m delighted with that. What happens next, I don’t know exactly.’I don’t have any reference. No one has done an operation like this and gone back to playing. It was never considered.
